Scaffold sheeting is used for covering scaffolds and protecting from fugitive emmisions. The sheet has multiple purposes:
- Enhances the security for the workers on the scaffold
- Serves as a climate shield that protects workers, machinery and open construction areas against rain, wind, snow etc.
- Ensures a stable working climate on the scaffold so deadlines can be respected regardless of inclement weather
- Protects the surroundings from any inconveniences (i.e. particles or building dust from sandblasting or water jetting, etc.).
Monarflex® product range Scaffold sheeting from Monarflex® consists of a reinforcement scrim protected by two layers of low density polyethylene (LDPE). The scrim is made of polyester yarn and available in two yarn thicknesses: 1100 and 1670 dtex. All materials are virgin materials – no recycled material is used. Please see attached datasheets for full product information.
Choosing the right product It is quite a comprehensive job to get an overview of the many different products offered on the market today. Reinforced plastic sheeting, debris netting and woven HDPE sheeting are just a few of the products available, including shrink wrap materirals. The following conditions have to be evaluated carefully before choosing a product:
- Duration of the project (long-term or short-term)
- Building season (i.e. winter or summer periods where extreme weather can be encountered).
- Type of building activity, from demolition to light facade work
- Place of building site, especially urban or coast line areas

For each project where scaffold sheeting is used, calculations have to be made in order to determine the wind speed and direction for that specific building size. On a site surrounded by high buildings, the influence of the wind will not be as critical a factor as it will be on a site along the coast line where there are no other buildings to reduce the wind speed. An “unprotected” building site will require a product with a high tensile strength, whereas a building site in a city surrounded by high buildings will require a product with a lower tensile strength.
This table below can be used as a guideline in choosing the right Monarflex® product but it does not replace exact calculations:

Flamesafe All our eyelet products are available in a Flamesafe version. Flamesafe sheeting is required whenever open fire is used on the site ex. welding or for renovation of historical monuments or buildings. With the addition of a flame retardant additive to the blown film, it prevents the fire from spreading by self-extinction of the flames. Monarflex® Super T Plus Flamesafe has passed the fire tests BS5867 Part 2 and LPS 1215
Customer logo application We offer our customers to laminate their company logo into all our eyelet products. The logo is printed separately on a white logo film and laminated into the product in the extrusion process. The logo is available in 3 widths: 200 ; 400 and 600 mm. To apply the logo film onto the sheeting, we need the following:
- A digital file of the logo in an eps or tif format in 100-150 dpi
- Color codes in Pantone (PMS) for all colors included
- A precise specification of the placement of the logo on the sheeting
Accessories To obtain the best possible protective system, the attachments and accessories are just as important as the sheeting. The sheeting and the fixing form a system that must maintain its strength for the entire building period. The system is only as strong as the weakest part so be careful to choose the right fixings. Monarflex® has a broad fixing and accessory range suitable for all kind of weather and influences
