Pro-Tect shrink wrap process is fairly simple with the proper equipment and materials. The film can be installed in a few hours and removed in minutes. The removed shrink film materials can then be properly recycled. We specialize in the distribution and installation of 9 mil flame resistant (certified to N.F.P.A. 701, large and small scale test), thermo ply film (heat shrink) with ultra violet inhibitors for longevity. The shrink wrap film is used extensively in Pro-Tect’s design and installation of environmental containments, which meet the requirements of SSPC Guide 61 Class 1 and Class 2. a framework, such as staging along with our special hi-tensile strength strapping and specially formulated tapes are required to install the shrink wrap cover . once the material is in place, the process of shrinking the wrap is accomplished by using the Shrinkfast 998 (UL listed) propane fired heat gun. The hot air produced by the heat by the heat forming a large impermeable barrier around the rigid or semi-rigid framework upon which it is installed. The thermo poly film is then shrunk up to 30% to form a tough, tight weatherproof barrier which will virtually contain 100% of sandblast, paint, lead or asbestos residuals, dust and debris. The process with the use of Shrinkfast 998 heat gun is considered light hot work wherein it is non-spark producing and does not emit an open flame. Pro-Tect has been successful in utilizing this process in dry-dock ship repairs, paper plants, wood processing facilities, secondary fiber plants, petro chemical plants and lead or asbestos abatement projects. Most facilities require, as a minimum, a hot work permit and fire extinguisher on the job site. Pro-Tect Services will readily cooperate with the customers on- going safety programs. Pro-Tect can be available to coordinate with the scaffolding contractor or appropriate representative frame work is suitable for the containment. Once the structure is in place and all “pad-off” is completed Pro-Tect can install shrink film temporary access doors reinforced hatched and penetrations for ventilation as required. The containment must be continually monitored to insure a impervious cover. As such, Pro-Tect will provide personnel to train the customer as necessary for routine maintenance, and/or any repairs that may become necessary during to any containment breaches from over blast, tears, mechanical damage, and alike.
